(Bernama) – All Umno members are reminded that the country’s political climate and ecosystem in the next three years will be challenging and critical.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said all party members should not treat the matter lightly to ensure that Umno continues to be a relevant party for the Malays without neglecting the aspirations of the other races.

“This is a very challenging and critical period because the change in the political climate and ecosystem in the country requires Umno to be proactive to face the situation.

“What we plan and implement must take into consideration the views and expressions of every community,” he told reporters after officiating the simultaneous opening of the annual general meetings of the Umno, Wanita, Youth and Puteri branches in the Pagoh Umno division at Seri Pekembar, here today.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Umno deputy president and Pagoh Umno division head, said that during the period Umno must be seen as a party that helps to resolve the problems of the community.

“It calls for an educated Umno leadership with good morals, while understanding what they are doing,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister, said the Malaysia Education Blue Print (Higher Education) 2015-2025 to raise the quality of higher education in the country would be launched by prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on April 7.

“There are 10 shifts to be announced, that is to take the country’s higher education to a more progressive level, with better quality education and generating human capital of quality,” he said.
