PAS, where is your dignity?
It looks like Malaysia is about to see a new political grouping emerge — those who are pro-Islam on one side, those who are anti-Islam on the other. There will no longer be a Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat. We will now have a Barisan anti-Islam and Barisan pro-Islam.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang is being called an Umno Trojan horse, a back-stabber, a traitor, and much more. Some say what Hadi is doing is his personal agenda and not the party’s agenda. In other words Hadi is not doing what his party wants and therefore this means his party is not with him.
They say the only way PAS can remain in Pakatan Rakyat would be if Hadi were ousted and someone else takes over, someone less of an ulama’ and more modern, liberal, conservative, etc. In short, the new PAS leader must be more like an Umno leader and PAS must be transformed into a more Umno-like party (minus the corruption, abuse of power and racism, of course).
I think the late Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat argued it well when he said that the only reason we need PAS is because Umno refuses to ‘accept’ Islam. If Umno can ‘accept’ Islam then there is no need for PAS any longer. PAS can be closed down, said Nik Aziz.
There are others who argue that if Hadi is not ousted then PAS must be kicked out of Pakatan Rakyat and PasMa be brought in to replace PAS. This means the future of PAS in Pakatan Rakyat depends on whether the party gets rid of Hadi in three months or so from now.
So there you have it. If PAS wants to remain in Pakatan Rakyat, then get rid of Hadi. This is the ultimatum from DAP and PKR.
What if PAS does not like Anwar Ibrahim? What if they believe that Anwar is actually guilty of those sodomy allegations? And many PAS leaders believe this and have personally told me, even those who are anti-Hadi.
Can PAS tell PKR that the only way PKR can remain in Pakatan Rakyat would be if they removed Anwar as the Ketua Umum and Opposition Leader? Would PKR stand for this?
What if PAS told DAP that the only way they can remain in Pakatan Rakyat would be if they get rid of Lim Kit Siang because of his fierce opposition to Islam, even to the extent of wanting to work with Barisan Nasional to ‘save Malaysia’?
And what does Lim Kit Siang want to save Malaysia from? Why, from Hudud, of course. Hudud is a threat to Malaysia. Malaysia must be saved from Hudud. Whether Hudud is part of Islam is not important. Whether Hudud is in the Qur’an, Hadith and Sunnah is not relevant. What is crucial is Malaysia must be saved…from Islam, Hudud, the Qur’an, Hadith, Sunnah, etc.
With all these slaps PAS still declares it wants to remain in Pakatan Rakyat? Where is their dignity? Takde maruah ke? Hidung tak mancung, pipi tersorong-sorong.
The message is clear. Drop your Islamic agenda or else get the fook out of here. And still PAS does not get the message? PAS ni bodoh macam lembu ke? Malulah!
At least Malaysia will no longer be divided by race, like now, so we should at least be grateful for small blessings.
So the ball is now at the feet of PAS. Get rid of your President. Replace him with a President acceptable to DAP and PKR.
Hmm…maybe the nomination for PAS President should come from DAP and PKR instead. That may solve everything. Then Hadi can go home to Terengganu and continue preaching religion and allow the liberals to run the country.
