Are DAP and Ong Kian Ming now supporting terrorists?
KS Lee
Ong Kian Ming’s recent spin about Jho Low’s influence on Malaysian Foreign Policy, published in online portals, is a bit farfetched even to the most gullible.
Jho Low has considerable experience in the Middle East. To advise Malaysia to support Saudi Arabia who is an ally and important trading partner against the Houthis in Yemen is not wrong.
Why is DAP and Ong Kian Ming so concerned and supportive of the Houthis? Let us be clear who the Houthis are, even if DAP is not.
The Houthis are a terror group, comparable to IS.
The United Nations Security Council has in February 2015 unanimously adopted a resolution demanding Shia Houthi rebels immediately cede power in Yemen.
The Houthis are suspected of being backed by Iran.
In fact, the Gulf Cooperation Council, whose members are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates are pressing for military enforcement and sanctions against the Houthis
Against this background, Jho Low’s suggestions seem sound.
DAP has to understand that they can oppose the government and point out wrongdoings but must give proof of wrongdoings. At the moment they have not offered concrete proof of it, just conjectures and guesses. If you persist in doing this, your credibility is being fast eroded in the eyes of Malaysians.
Pakatan, and DAP in particular, should also be more circumspect about their sources. In this case information was provided by the Sarawak Report only serves to emphasise the credibility of this source.
Do not keeping jumping up like “jack in the box” and protest at everything said and done by the government. Be more discerning and the rakyat will have more respect for you. Tony Pua and Rafizi Ramli (PKR) included !
