Rulers did not issue statement on hudud

(Bernama) – Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek dismissed as untrue a report in a news portal (The Malaysian Insider) linking the Conference of Rulers to the proposed implementation of the hudud law in Kelantan.

“There is no truth to it. Some people are trying to drag the Conference of Rulers into the issue.

“Everything that is published (in cyberspace) must be verified. Do not easily believe whatever is published, especially on the social media,” he told reporters after the presentation of the 2014 Excellence Service awards of the ministry here.

Ahmad Shabery also said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) would investigate the news portal report.

The Office of the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal said in a statement today that a report had been lodged at the Jalan Travers Police Station to deny that it had issued any statement on the matter.
