(Selangorkini) – Barisan Nasional’s (BN) refusal to appoint a Leader of the Opposition proves that they are ignoring the decree by the Sultan of Selangor, said Ng Suee Lim (DAP-Sekinchan).

He said that BN’s action is not appropriate, especially since the Sultan of Selangor wants the people’s rights to be defended.

“I am puzzled and confused about why the 12 Umno representatives refuse to choose among themselves the Leader of the Opposition.

“The most eligible candidate is from Permatang because he has a way, the others can’t,” he said.

However, Shahrum Mohd Sharif (BN-Hulu Dengkil) interjected and claimed that the refusal allows money to be saved and used for the benefit of the people.

“I would like him to save money, but this is not about saving or not, but the people have spoken and given trust. Save in 1MDB would be enough,” Suee Lim cynically replied.

Yesterday, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, said that the importance of a political system based on a constitutional monarch and parliamentary democracy should be maintained.

The Sultan said that through this system, the people will elect their representatives during the elections and Assemblymen are chosen to form an efficient government for the welfare of the people and that the trust should be implemented.
