(The Star) – DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang has expressed shock that PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has gone ahead with plans to table a Private Member’s Bil to pave the way for the implementation of hudud in Kelantan.

“I am shocked and dismayed that the PAS president has been so dishonest as to break the promise he made at the Pakatan leadership council on Feb 8,” Lim told reporters at Parliament lobby on Tuesday.

“Hadi had promised on Feb 8 at the Pakatan leadership council that any motion on Hudud will first be presented to the council. Today, 7th April, is the first time we, and anyone in DAP, are seeing the Private Member’s Bill. This is a breach of promise. Hadi has broken his word and I’m very shocked that this can happen. This shows that Hadi’s word is not his bond,” the Gelang Patah MP said.

The motion to table Private Member’s Bill appeared on Tuesday’s parliament order paper. It seeks to amend Section 2 of the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965.

However, while the motion is listed in the order paper, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has yet to decide on whether to allow it to go through.
