Dr M warns Umno: They’ll expose you
Ex-PM and Raub MP Ariff both say opposition will spare no quarter and dig out everything
(Free Malaysia Today) – Umno politicians have been warned that the risk of being exposed by the opposition, and the chances of being jailed, if Najib Razak is kept as party president and causes the Barisan Nasional to be voted out of power.
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in a video interview, kept up his campaign against Najib by speaking about the consequences. He has previously said that Umno risked losing power at the next general election if Najib was not ousted.
“If he steps down now, at least there will be a few years to remedy the situation,” Dr Mahathir said, according to Malaysiakini.
“It is very difficult now to do anything because you will lose money. At least a few billion will be lost. But what I fear most (is when) the opposition wins and we lose, they will spare no quarter. They will dig everything out.
“When they dig, people may be charged in court and may be found guilty. So if BN loses, this country will be seeing a lot of chaos. A lot of people will have to pay a big price,” he added.
His remarks were made in an interview with pro-Umno blogger Din Turtle on Thursday, and uploaded on Friday.
Dr Mahathir’s fears were similar to the threat made by Raub MP Mohd Ariff Sabri Aziz in his blog on Friday when he warned former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi against defending Najib’s purported involvement in the Altantuya murder eight years ago.
He made a broad threat about exposing the secrets behind the government’s controversial purchase of two French-built submarines, when Najib was the then defence minister, which has been linked to the murder of Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu.
