(The Star) – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has addressed all issues raised by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at a closed-door meeting with Umno Youth.

Its chief Khairy ‎Jamaluddin said the movement was satisfied with the Prime Minister’s explanations, stressing that there were no more doubts as the party president had cleared the air.

“Now that the president has fully explained, we will relay the information to the grassroots and the rakyat,”‎ he told the media after the 90-minute briefing on Monday.

On whether the support for Najib was genuine, Khairy said party members would not follow their leaders blindly.

“If we do this, not only will this cause a leader to fall, but the whole Umno ship will sink,” he said.

Khairy urged the ‎Auditor-General to expedite the audit of 1Malaysia Development Board (1MDB), adding that action must be taken against those found to have abused or misappropriated the funds.

Apart from the 1MDB controvery, the Prime Minister had explained matters relating to the purchase of the government jet, the Altantuya Shaariibuu case, the crooked bridge, as well as the current political and economic issues.

Papar ‎Umno Youth chief Armizan Mohd Ali said it was time for the party to move on since Najib had explained in detailed the “hot” issues.

“We have listened to his (Najib’s) explanation. We must now move forward as there are other challenges that need to be tackled,” said the Youth exco member.

‎Johor Umno Youth chief Hahasrin Hashim said the issue of a bridge replacing the Causeway had been discussed by the state liaison committee‎ before.

“While we agree there is a need for it to be replaced, we leave it to the Federal Government to decide on the best way to do it, be it a ‘straight’ or a ‘crooked bridge’,” he added.

Federal ‎Territory Youth chief Mohd Razlan Rafii said that Najib had addressed questions by Dr Mahathir ‎as “clear and detailed as possible”, adding that it was now time to use the information to explain to the grassroots members.
