Mahathir not alone, the rakyat want answers too

Former Umno veep and Selangor MB says the PM must answer up instead of getting people to support his silence.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Former Umno Vice-President and Selangor Menteri Besar, Muhammad Muhammad Taib, is convinced that the “silent majority” in the country is behind former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad’s efforts to hold Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak accountable.

“He’s not alone,” said Muhammad Taib. “The majority want the truth from the government.”

“Instead of addressing the issues, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is going around trying to get people to come out in support of him remaining silent on the issues.”

He added that there was nothing to cheer about and reiterated that the silent majority was not amused. “They are watching from the sidelines, listening to Mahathir, and observing Najib. They can see that Mahathir was decisive and wants the best for the country.”

Mahathir, he assured, does not criticise anyone unless there were reasons to do so. He was referring to Mahathir conceding that he was “alone” in his efforts to get Najib to provide answers to various questions he has posed.

Mahathir also wants Najib to step down on the grounds that his administration was bogged down by too many scandals and the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) faces certain defeat at the polls in 2018 if he continues to be Prime Minister.

Muhammad Taib expressed surprise that Umno Youth leaders had hoisted Najib on their shoulders on Monday, after a closed door meeting, in a show of support, “as if they had won something”. They should be pressing Najib for answers to the questions that Mahathir has raised, he continued. “Their act shows that they are being pretentious. They are supporting someone without knowing why they are supporting that person.”

What is there to cheer about? Why do we cheer when there are so many things that are not in order?

“We want to see results,” said Muhammad Taib in advising Umno Youth leaders not to kid themselves. “They are fooling no one. They should have accepted Mahathir’s criticisms.”

“I am disappointed with the way that they are treating Mahathir. This is so rude.’
