No meeting with Najib, no invitation either, says Dr M
(The Malaysian Insider) – Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad signalled a point of no return in his ties with Datuk Seri Najib Razak when he said he would not meet the Prime Minister to discuss his criticism against the latter.
Najib also had not extended an invitation to him, Dr Mahathir said today.
When asked if he would meet Najib over problems which he repeatedly raised, Dr Mahathir answered ‘no’.
“No, no,” he said, when asked by reporters after attending the Malaysia Social Media Week event today.
Dr Mahathir, who is the fiercest critic of Najib’s administration for questioning scandals involving the prime minister, added that he had not received any invitation from Najib after his remarks recently.
Before this, Dr Mahathir had given Najib an ultimatum to resign as prime minister to save Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general election.
He also criticised Najib over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, and the policy of giving cash handouts.
