Muhyiddin would not repeat Najib’s mistakes, says Dr M
(The Malaysian Insider) – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be a better prime minister than Datuk Seri Najib Razak as he would be careful not to repeat the same mistakes as his predecessor, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.
The former Prime Minister said Muhyiddin, who is deputy prime minister, would know that he would have to bear the brunt of his mistakes, just as how Najib was facing the worst attacks of his career brought about by his many mistakes.
“I am confident if Muhyiddin becomes the prime minister, he will not do such things.
“He knows that if he does, he will have to face all of this too,” he said.
The retired statesman was responding to a question from a member of the public about who would be best to replace Najib as prime minister, at a forum in Taman Melawati today.
“If we follow Umno’s traditions, surely it would be the deputy,” he added.
Dr Mahathir has gone on a tirade against Najib in recent months, urging the prime minister to step down over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, for continuing the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) and also over the murder of a Mongolian woman, Altantuya Shaariibuu
