(The Sun Daily) – PAS Permatang Pauh division committee member Jamsari Samad insisted a private apology was made at a meeting in Seberang Jaya last night despite PKR deputy president Azmin Ali’s denial on the matter.

Jamsari, when contacted by theSun, insisted there was a private apology made by Azmin, however, he expected the Selangor Mentri Besar’s denial as it is a political strategy in order to help the party president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to retain the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat in the upcoming by-election.

“Yes, Azmin has apologised privately,” he said.

Asked in a report by a news portal, he was quoted that PKR did not apologise but explained that both parties came to an understanding. Jamsari denied making the statement and said he did not receive any calls from the specific news portal.

“I had received only two calls from two English newspapers which are theSun and The Star only but not from any other portal,” he said.

Last night, Jamsari when contacted by theSun, said that they had just finished a meeting with Wan Azizah and Azmin at a hotel in Seberang Jaya at 9pm tonight.

They met before the announcement of the PKR candidate contesting for the parliamentary seat.

“Azmin Ali has apologised to us and explained that there is some misunderstanding over their statement made against Hadi Awang submitting the private bill of hudud,” Jamsari explained.

“Azmin said the misunderstanding had occurred on the technicality of hudud. He added that Muslims in PKR were never against hudud at all. He stresses that they accept hudud.”

Jamsari added that PAS Permatang Pauh has accepted Azmin’s apology and explanation.

However, Azmin said PKR is maintaining its stand on hudud and denied a news report saying that PKR has apologised to PAS on the matter.

He admitted that while a meeting did take place between PAS and PKR a short while before the announcement of the Permatang Pauh candidate earlier but it was not to apologise to PAS.

“We did not apologise to PAS during the meeting.

“Our stand on hudud is still the same,” he said when met after PKR announced its president Wan Azizah as the Permatang Pauh by-election candidate.
