Democracy forces Islamists to work with infidels, hardline group says

(Malay Mail Online) – Ahead of the Permatang Pauh by-election, Hizbut Tahrir Malaysia (HTM) today claimed that democracy has trapped Islamists in a bind with “infidels” and secular parties, leading them to abandon their original goals.

In an apparent dig at PAS, the hardline group accused the Islamist party of shifting its opinions and stances while campaigning for the by-election just to obey its top leadership, despite the so-called infidels and secular parties staying their course.

“As observers, it is enough for us to see how the Islamic party can keep changing its opinions and stances, one by one, while infidel and secular parties keep to their own,” the group said on its website.

“It is sad to see this situation, furthermore to think of the Islamic party’s members who are sincerely struggling for Islam’s victory, but has strayed from the original track just to hold to their loyalty, that is stronger from their hold on the Islamic code.”

HTM said it was sad to see Muslims getting mired in democracy despite the man-made system’s obvious “filth and blasphemy”.

The group aims to establish an Islamic state in Malaysia and a worldwide caliphate as part of its global network, although it has never explained how.

Last month, HTM had said that using democratic means to introduce the controversial Islamic penal code of hudud is “haram” or forbidden, insisting that Islamic law must be implemented in its entirety in Malaysia without approval from Parliament or state assemblies.

In a separate piece, the group said that things will not change for the country even if Datuk Seri Najib Razak steps down as prime minister, and might get worse as the next Umno leader would still inherit the same system and tyranny.

“Two things which will make a country good, is a good leader — faithful and adherent — and a good system, the Islamic system,” the group said.

“If both of them are bad, or one of them bad, then the country will be bad and the fate of the public in the country will also be bad.”

HTM also compared former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to former US president George Bush for his “us versus them” attitude.

Dr Mahathir has recently openly said that he will continue to push for Najib’s resignation citing dissatisfaction with the slew of scandals plaguing the current administration, chiefly on the massive RM42 billion debt amassed by state investment arm 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
