PKR not a party but a family organisation, says Dr M
Dr Mahathir Mohamad also said he would not be stopping by in Permatang Pauh to help BN campaign as they “don’t need my help”.
(Free Malaysia Today) – Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has described PKR as more of a family organisation rather than a political party.
He said this when asked by reporters to comment on the upcoming by-elections in Permatang Pauh and PKR’s choice of candidate in Wan Azizah, who is the party’s president and wife of former Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
“I have always maintained that it (PKR) belongs to the family, it’s not a party but an organisation to support the family so the family has to be there,” Malay Mail Online quoted Dr Mahathir as saying.
Currently in Penang on a speaking engagement at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Dr Mahathir also said he would not be dropping by at the Barisan Nasional’s operations centre as they did not need his help.
“They don’t need my help, they will have a chance to win because the Opposition is in disarray due to the hudud Bill which PKR will not support,” he explained.
