PAS won’t tolerate silent protests against Wan Azizah
(Bernama) – PAS will not entertain members and party supporters who intend to stage a silent protest against PKR candidate Wan Azizah Wan Ismail during the Permatang Pauh by-election, polling of which is on May 7.
Its vice-president Salahuddin Ayub said PAS’ top leadership considered the case as remote and had decided to continue to help ensure Wan Azizah’s victory.
“That is the commitment we have extended so far. The states assisting such as Perlis, Kedah and even Kelantan and Perak have done their part. “All the campaigns have successfully been implemented by PAS to ensure victory (for Pakatan Rakyat in Permatang Pauh,” he said after opening the 43rd Johor PAS Youth annual muktamar here, today.
Bagan PAS information chief Azmi Jaafar and deputy president Mohd Yusuf Khazali yesterday had confirmed reports that some members and supporters would not go out to vote and if they did, would spoil their votes at the polling station.
Azmi reportedly said the information was obtained from feedback and his meeting with PAS members and supporters in Permatang Pauh after nomination day on April 25.
When questioned about the absence of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang during the Permatang Pauh campaigning, Salahuddin said the Marang MP was busy with preparations for PAS’s Annual Muktamar, scheduled next month.
