PKR Youth chief non-committal on apology to Penang PAS Youth
(The Rakyat Post) – PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad remains non-committal on the apology demanded by Penang PAS Youth.
Penang PAS Youth is demanding the apology from the state PKR Youth for its objection on the issue of hudud.
Nik Nazmi said the state PKR Youth had not taken an official stance on the issue, hence there was no need for him to respond on the matter.
“You have to ask that person, as it is not an official statement from PKR Youth.
“The statement on hudud is not made in the name of PKR Youth,” he told reporters when asked on the matter.
He added that from a technical point of view, the central leadership of PKR Youth and PAS Youth had no problems working together at the grassroots level.
He further said that grassroots observations among all the supporters from all three Pakatan Rakyat partners had been positive.
“We worked together to move forward and focus on making the candidates winnable, be it in Permatang Pauh or Rompin.”
His comment came in the wake of a statement by Penang PAS Youth in demanding an apology following the statement by Penang PKR Youth deputy chief Khairil Anuar Kamaruddin, who apparently insulted PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang over the hudud issue.
The hudud issue appeared to have split Pakatan when the Penang PAS Youth leadership decided to boycott the PKR campaign in the Permatang Pauh by-election.
However, Penang PAS Youth later made a U-turn and announced that it would support the candidacy of PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
