Lim: What say Najib to a vote of confidence?
DAP elder statesman wants to know if the PM is courageous enough to face Parliament on Monday for a vote of confidence on his leadership.
(Free Malaysia Today) – If the “big drama” of support for Najib Razak as enacted during Monday’s Umno Supreme Council meeting is to be taken seriously, the prime minister should now do “the right and proper thing” and seek a vote of confidence in Parliament, said DAP Parliamentary Leader Lim Kit Siang.
Saying “nobody really believes” that Najib did enjoy the full support of his party members, Lim said the only way to prove this was true was for a vote of confidence to be sought when Parliament reconvened next.
“Najib should seek a motion of confidence from Parliament on Monday to prove to the nation and the world that he still enjoys the confidence of the majority of MPs in the country,” Kit Siang said in a statement today.
He also wondered if Najib had the gumption to do it or was fearful instead that things could backfire, thereby costing him his premiership altogether.
“Is Najib bold enough to seek such a vote of confidence from Parliament on Monday or is he fearful that an accident might occur and he might lose a vote of confidence on Monday and suddenly cease to be Prime Minister?”
