Dr M: Both Najib and Guan Eng should resign

Mahathir-Guan Eng

(Malay Mail Online) – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad suggested today that Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng resign together with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, saying that the antagonism between the state and federal governments has affected the country.

After launching a book compiling his letters to world leaders, DAP’s Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim asked the former prime minister what he would write to Lim and Najib now.

“My letter would be simple; resign, both [of] you,” Dr Mahathir said to a thunderous applause from hundreds in the audience.

“For 60 years, we had peace and stability in this country. This country grew very well. Now when we [have] different governments in different states, we have this antagonism. And you fall back on racial sentiments and things like that. And of course, this is not doing the country very good,” added the elder statesman.

However, in a reply to another question by former Balik Pulau MP Yusmadi Yusoff, Dr Mahathir urged the public to let some leaders stay on a bit longer, saying Malaysia cannot be developed overnight.
