What about hudud? DAP asks after PKR moots Pakatan shadow Cabinet
(Malay Mail Online) – DAP’s Lim Guan Eng put a damper today on the proposal for Pakatan Rakyat (PR) to form a shadow Cabinet, pointing out that his party and PAS have yet to iron their differences over hudud.
Although the Bagan MP did not name names, he also coyly reminded his PR allies that “one person” in PAS has even shown support for Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN chief Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The Penang chief minister, who was likely referring to PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, added that when it comes to policies in PAS, it is only this one leader who makes all the decisions.
“I think at the moment that would be probably need to be discussed further with PKR what she had in mind,” Lim said, referring to PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who proposed the implementation of a shadow Cabinet in Parliament today.
“They’ve not discussed with us. Any discussion with PAS it’ll be at a secretariat level because you know when you talk about making policy decisions, policy decisions in PAS is set by one person and since that person has decided to support Najib, we’ll leave it at that,” he said after a press conference on the Georgetown Festival.
He added that should there be a meeting between PR parties, DAP will speak with PAS secretariat as a whole and not just its president, in order to iron out how such an arrangement will play out despite the two parties’ differences.
“He has taken his position we’ve decided, we do not want to have any relationship when he has taken that kind of position not only on hudud but, as far as Najib is concerned,
“So if at all it’ll be with the party but if the party, it’ll be at a secretariat level so I think this has to be further clarified whether shadow cabinet is possible under these circumstance,” he said.
