DAP in the dark over unity government plan, says Guan Eng
(The Malaysian Insider) – DAP was never informed of any plan of a unity government with Umno or Barisan Nasional, party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said today, echoing PKR which has also denied any such plan.
Lim’s said this in response to PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang who yesterday said jailed PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the late PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat had approved the idea of a unity government.
Keen on the idea himself, Hadi had said a national unity government meant uniting all political parties under a single party to form a government.
“The idea came about during the Perak constitutional crisis. At the time, there was an attempt by Barisan Nasional to woo Pakatan Rakyat reps.
“None of us wanted to join BN. We don’t want history to repeat itself.
“That’s why we came up with the unity government idea – all parties in one government,” Hadi had said.
But Lim said today the latest revelation by the PAS president of a national unity government in 2009 in the midst of the Perak constitutional crisis showed how far Hadi had gone in aligning himself with Umno and BN.
“This is a surprising new revelation because DAP leaders were never informed of a national unity government with Umno and BN in 2009.
