Hadi wrong, Anwar never supported unity government idea, PKR says
(MMO) – PKR issued a strong denial today of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s claim that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had been keen on the idea of forming a unity government with Umno.
The Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lynchpin party also said it has no intention to get dragged into PAS’ internal issues.
“I’ve been given the mandate by PKR’s political bureau to issue a strong denial that Anwar or any of our party’s leaders had ever agreed with the idea of forming a unity government with Umno, as suggested yesterday by Abdul Hadi.
“PKR’s focus is to look out for the welfare of the people by mending government institutions that were destroyed by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government, particularly at this time when the people are facing pressures like the GST (Goods and Services Tax),” PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli said in a statement here.
Apart from the GST, the Pandan MP also listed scandals currently plaguing the BN government, such as the controversies surrounding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
“We hope we don’t get dragged into PAS’ internal matters,” he said.
