1MDB: Is it answers or just a witch-hunt people want?
Salleh Said Keruak says the people are bent on punishing those responsible for a crime before even establishing if a crime has been committed.
(Free Malaysia Today) – With everybody now jumping on the bandwagon and clamouring for sackings and resignations, nobody has stopped to ask if a crime has indeed been committed in the first place at 1Malaysia Development Berhad, Salleh Said Keruak has said.
Observing how no one had the patience to even wait for the findings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to be made known, the Sabah State Speaker asked, “Are we really interested in the answers or are we just interested in a witch-hunt?”
In his latest blog posting, he noted how everyone who was anyone were making suggestions on how to deal with the issue of the alleged disappearance of 1MDB’s RM42 billion.
This included he said, former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad who wanted a commission set up and Umno Youth Leader Khairy Jamaluddin who suggested certain individuals testify in front of the PAC. Opposition politicians meanwhile were calling on Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is also Finance Minister, and heading the ministry that wholly-owns 1MDB, to resign.
Most recently, he said, was deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who said the entire Board of Directors of 1MDB ought to be sacked and the police brought in.
“The issue that all these people have been harping on is that 1MDB has to explain what happened to the money, in this case a figure of RM42 billion has been quoted.
