Umno leader attacks Muhyiddin, calls him ‘lazy’ education minister
(Malay Mail Online) – Umno’s Dr Puad Zarkashi has accused Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin of shirking his duties as education minister, alleging that the deputy prime minister was too “lazy” to check on the deplorable condition of some of the schools in the country.
In a Facebook posting, Puad attached a photograph of a classroom said to be at a school in Keningau, Sabah, where the desks for the students appeared to be in bad shape.
A former deputy education minister, Puad said because Muhyiddin did not visit schools, local officers did not bother to do so.
“There are people posting a picture of a school in Keningau which is in such a bad state. The cause of this is because officers in charge did not come down to the school.
“Why didn’t they visit? Because the minister and deputy minister are lazy to come down,” Puad said.
“When the TPM (deputy prime minister) has been the education minister for almost two decades, he should ensure that the rural schools, especially in the interior of Sabah and Sarawak, are taken care of,” Puad added.
Puad’s attacks come amid Muhyiddin’s recent call to sack every board member of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The deputy prime minister has since insisted that the opinion was a personal one, and he has yet to receive any response from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on the matter.
