Ku Li: What Muhyiddin said is nothing new
Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has opted to stay any calls of judgment until a complete picture of the 1MDB issue is formed.
(Free Malaysia Today) – Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has maintained a careful stance as to the current 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) furore and Prime Minister Najib Razak’s role in the matter, saying that the responsibility as of now falls on the entire Cabinet.
“I do not stand here in judgment of what is wrong or right,” said the elder statesman in an interview outside Parliament today.
“If the people running the organisation have not performed or have committed omissions, then naturally the shareholders should take issue or take action on such omissions that have caused grievous loss.
“So what Muhyiddin has said is nothing new, and is appropriate.”
This was said in reference to Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent call to sack and probe the entire board of 1MDB following the recent uproar on the misuse and misdirection of 1MDB funds.
Razaleigh declined to comment much on the issue, opting rather to wait for “all the information that I can gather at the moment”, and said that it was very difficult for him to make a categorical statement on the matter due to the irregular and incomplete information now available.
“Although it is being bandied about as something being irregular and something bordering on the brink of fraud, I think I would want to wait for the official statements to come in.
“We are only relying on the info that comes in drips,” said Razaleigh.
“Let’s look at the total picture. At the moment, the PAC is still arranging how to look at it.”
