DAP: Resolve party disputes internally

Tan Kok Wai

(Free Malaysia Today) – DAP Acting National Chairman Tan Kok Wai today warned party members that consequences will follow for members who choose to play out internal party disputes under the spotlight of the media.

Tan, who is also the party’s Disciplinary Committee chairman, said that the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) had at its meeting yesterday passed a directive that all party matters, including disputes of any nature, must be dealt with via internal party channels only.

He warned that disciplinary action will be taken against those found publicising internal disputes to the media in breach of the CEC directive.

“All members, regardless of position and rank, are reminded that they have a duty to safeguard the party’s reputation and should be mature enough to resolve any disputes or disagreements internally,” Tan said in a statement released to the media today.

“Publicising any dispute openly in the media will only serve to undermine the party, cause unnecessary division and affect the confidence of the rakyat in the party.”
