Nik Amar says PAS can operate alone without Pakatan if it chooses to leave
(The Rakyat Post) – Deputy Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah says that PAS is capable of “standing on its own” should the situation arise where the Islamic party leaves Pakatan Rakyat (PR).
Mohd Amar who is popularly known as Nik Amar said that this is due to the fact that PAS is a party that is experienced in operating on its own.
However, Nik Amar said that any decision to leave the Opposition coalition should be decided by the party’s highest leadership.
“On this matter, party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang can only make a suggestion.
“In the end the final decision on whether to remain or leave the coalition depends on the outcome at the PAS Muktamar next month,” he said when met at Pengkalan Chepa, today.
PAS’ decision to continue with its plans to implement hudud law in Kelantan had raised the ire of PR component party DAP.
Nik Amar who is also PAS Central Committee member stressed that the party still remains in Pakatan and that DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng should not issue any statements that could threaten the tri-party relationship in the coalition.
When asked whether DAP will be invited to attend a PAS-organised ceramah on May 29 in Kelantan, Nik Amar said that he is unsure about it.
Should DAP be invited, Nik Amar advised them to not talk or avoid bringing comments on sensitive issues such as hudud law.
“There are many issues now to be discussed including GST, former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed vs Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak among others.
“I believe that these are the issues that should be brought up by DAP instead of hudud.”
It is learnt that the ceramah in Tumpat would be attended by several speakers including PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and PAS presidential candidate Ahmad Awang.
