Abduh: DAP has secured top post for ulama faction
(The Rakyat Post) – DAP’s constant attacks on PAS ulama, including its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, will only help the religious scholars win the top posts at the upcoming party elections.
In stating so, PAS lawmaker Nik Abduh Nik Aziz explained that this was because it was the Islamist party’s members who would be voting and not DAP.
The Pasir Mas Member of Parliament added that many PAS members had been offended by DAP’s anti-PAS move.
“Indirectly, DAP has secured the votes for the ulama but who knows, maybe they want the ulama faction to stay so that it will be easier for them to leave Pakatan Rakyat,” Nik Abduh, who is vying for the PAS Youth chief post, told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
When asked as to what could be the possible reason behind DAP’s public attacks Nik Abduh said it was a question that should be answered by DAP itself.
“I hope the top leadership will take steps to cool off the situation.
“I don’t like the issues raised by DAP to be played up as they were mostly about hudud and PAS’ alleged intention to join BN.
“DAP’s attacks on PAS, for me, are baseless. It is not beneficial for us when the people are hoping for the coalition to continue existing, but the top leadership is playing up issues like this.
“Before this, it was the grassroots which played them up and to that we have nothing to say.
“But now, the leadership itself has stooped to that level; it is saddening.”
