PAS leader: DAP trying to get ‘yes men’ leaders to win in Muktamar
(Malay Mail Online) – A PAS leader today accused DAP of trying to influence his party’s election next month in order to have more leaders who are agreeable to the latter party’s policies.
PAS Research Centre chief operation officer Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki alleged that DAP was trying to get rid of party leaders such as incumbent president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang who have stood up it in Pakatan Rakyat (PR) meetings.
“It is clear that DAP is trying to eliminate brave PAS leaders who say no them. To get rid of these leaders, DAP has constantly attacked the PAS president who has not given in to DAP’s pushes in PR meetings,” Zuhdi said in a statement today.
The Islamist party elections due next month will also be used by DAP to help push up the ranks PAS leaders who are “yes men” to them, Zuhdi further alleged.
He also blamed the problems in PR between DAP and PAS on the former party allegedly interfering on the latter’s internal issues including trying to influence the top leadership
Ties between the two parties worsened after the PAS-led Kelantan state government successfully pushed amendments to the Shariah Criminal Code II 1993, followed quickly by Abdul Hadi’s move to table two private member’s bills in Parliament ― all to pave the way for hudud implementation in Kelantan.
DAP’s powerful central executive committee declared in March that it will no longer work with Hadi, accusing the PAS leader of cooperating with arch-rivals Umno to implement Shariah penal law or hudud.
The outcome of the PAS election next month is expected to not only determine the future of the party but also the continued existence of the PR pact.
