Kelantan PAS slams Zairil over hudud statement

(The Star) – Kelantan PAS has slammed DAP’s Zairil Khir Johari for claiming that syariah criminal laws intended to be implemented in the state were PAS’ own creation.

“Zairil is talking nonsense about hudud. Just because he visited two Middle East countries, he’s come up with this conclusion without any supporting argument,” said PAS deputy commissioner Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah (pic).

The Bukit Bendera MP was recently on a trip to Jordan and Egypt together with DAP MPs Teresa Kok, Liew Chin Tong and Steven Sim and party adviser Lim Kit Siang.

“The purpose of this trip was to learn more about the culture and political dynamics in West Asia, especially about the Islamic political movement that is increasingly growing in the region,” Zairil had said in a post on DAP’s Facebook page.

Mohd Amar also asked the Bukit Bendera to explain why the likes of Brunei and Acheh were using the law if it had been formulated by the Kelantan state government.

“Would Brunei and Acheh use the Kelantan government hudud?,” he asked.

Mohd Amar was asked to comment on Zairil’s statement that appeared in an online news portal article that Kelantan’s hudud was actually PAS’ version of hudud and therefore, not valid.

He added that Zairil should not simply conclude things based on one experience and is long way from understanding what he had uttered.
