SukaGuam regrets that the actions of agents provocateurs prompted police to order the event’s cancellation which has now been postponed indefinitely.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Organisers of the Nothing2Hide dialogue regret that agents provocateurs had succeeded in staging a fracas outside the venue that led the IGP to order the event be cancelled due to a security threat to the prime minister.

At an impromptu media briefing after dialogue attendees had left the hall, Khairul Anwar Rahmat, the chairman of SukaGuam, the law-based NGO that organised the event, said, “We are very disappointed that a peaceful and constructive dialogue has been manipulated into a chaotic event.”

He explained that the dialogue was ready to begin and that Najib was already leaving his residence when he was advised by the police to skip the event due to a security threat.

“Najib was about to leave his house, only to be advised by the police that this event needed to be postponed,” he said.

On the presence of Mahathir Mohamad, Khairul added that the former Prime Minister was in fact aware that he was not invited but he came anyway as he wanted to be given a chance to speak with the public.
