(MMO) – From his prison cell in Sungai Buloh, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed concern over PAS’s move to sever ties with the DAP and wants the party to review its decision.

Amid talk that the split would lead Pakatan Rakyat (PR) to an eventual break-up, the PKR de facto leader penned a short note to articulate his feelings on the matter and had hs party colleague N. Surendran release it to the media this morning.

“I am concerned with recent events affecting Pakatan Rakyat, which was formed as an alternative to the failed political system and  poor governance under the Barisan Nasional (BN).

“I regret that a resolution to sever ties with the DAP was accepted at the PAS muktamar. I urge our political ally PAS to review that resolution which was passed without debate, and meanwhile not to implement it,” Anwar said in his message.

He reminded PAS that the DAP is still committed to PR’s struggle for change, and said he is confident the party is still keen on ensuring the pact remains a viable alternative government to Malaysians.

Under the current BN rule, he continued, the situation has become “increasingly dire”, particularly as the country is now struggling to cope with a rise in living costs, a new consumption tax system, losses incurred by the state-owned investment firm 1Malaysia Development Berhad, among other serious problems.

“It is the great hope of the rakyat that PR will march forward to resolve the political uncertainty and economic troubles that  plague our country under the rule of the BN,” he said.

According to Surendran, Anwar also sent separate personal messages to both PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang.
