No to unity government but yes to national unity
Salleh Said Keruak
Yesterday, the PAS Vice-President said that any unity government between PAS and Umno is out of the question. A veteran politician must know that in politics nothing is out of the question because in politics anything can happen depending on the situation.
Anyway, I would agree that there is a very remote possibility that PAS and Umno can come to an agreement on a unity government. If PAS cannot agree with its Pakatan Rakyat partners regarding the Islamic State and Islamic Shariah laws of Hudud how can PAS and Umno agree on the same thing?
I do not know why DAP keeps insinuating that PAS and Umno are exploring the possibility of forming a unity government. Is DAP saying that Umno will leave Barisan Nasional while PAS will leave Pakatan Rakyat to come together to form a new coalition? This is definitely not viable both for PAS as well as Umno.
Maybe DAP is playing a game of disinformation but it was Lim Kit Siang that suggested Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat explore the possibility of a ‘Save Malaysia’ coalition. It must be noted that the proposal was one-sided and Barisan Nasional did not respond to that idea.
