PAS is just bluffing, says Guan Eng
(The Star) – Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pic) believes PAS is not serious about its threat to sever ties with DAP as it has not asked its representatives in Penang to resign from their government posts.
“The current situation is, as long as the party does not ask its representatives to resign, they are just bluffing (main-main sahaja),” said Lim, adding that the state government would not sack the PAS representatives from their government posts.
Lim added that even if the PAS representatives were to resign, the move would not affect Penang’s administration.
“DAP and PKR have 29 out of the 40 state (legislative assembly) seats. So we (still) have a comfortable majority,” he said.
He accused PAS of compromising the unity between Pakatan Rakyat parties.
“It is obvious that PAS killed Pakatan,” he claimed, adding he was still in the dark over whether PAS would cut off ties with DAP.
Meanwhile, former PAS information chief Datuk Mahfuz Omar said there was no need for any special muktamar or EGM to debate the motion of severing ties with DAP.
“PAS muktamar has agreed and made the decision, now it is left to the PAS central committee and Syura Council to execute it,” Mahfuz told reporters at the Parliament lobby.
He admitted the muktamar’s decision had made the situation in Selangor state government unstable but said there was no turning back.
“The ulamas had reviewed the motion in detail before bringing up the motion,” he said.
