Dr M: Najib and Arul must go
Dr Mahathir Mohamad says the two have told too many lies in regard to 1MDB.
(Free Malaysia Today) – Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has said that Prime Minister Najib Razak must resign and so too 1MDB chief Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
When answering questions from reporters at the Perdana Foundation today about a possible Cabinet reshuffle after Hari Raya, Mahathir said that if indeed one was to take place, Najib should be the “first person to go”.
“A (Cabinet) reshuffle is okay but Najib must be the first to go.”
He also said that he would continue pushing for Najib’s resignation in light of the billions allegedly lost by 1Malaysia Development Berhad which he said Najib had still not satisfactorily answered.
Another person Mahathir said had to resign was Arul Kanda because he had lied on one too many occasions.
“I just don’t believe him,” Mahahir said, implying that it was ridiculous that 1MDB’s president and chief executive director could have seen billions with his own eyes.
“He said he saw it with his own eyes? He saw billions with his own eyes? I would faint (if I saw that much money),” Mahathir remarked, oozing with sarcasm about the USD1 billion supposedly transferred from the Cayman Islands to BSI Bank.
Those billions in cash that Arul saw, were later revealed to be only “documents” bearing forged signatures, that in turn were declared as “units”.
Mahathir said that after such a string of lies about the billions, he could never ever trust Arul Kanda again.
