(Malay Mail Online) – PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has told the DAP to “be a man” and directly cut ties with the Islamist party.

Nik Mohamad Abduh said on Facebook yesterday that the DAP was like a “woman”, as it is easier for Muslim men to initiate divorce than women.

“They seem like they are confident and truly courageous, but instead they keep pushing PAS to cut ties with them; it’s like they’re not confident in divorcing PAS,” he said on his Facebook page.

“I feel that DAP is like a woman and PAS is like a man…come on lah DAP, be a man. Choose to be a gentleman, cool like PAS, or just be direct…and reject PAS,” the newly-elected PAS Youth chief added.

Last week, the Islamist party confirmed its decision to sever ties with DAP while still remaining in PR with PKR, after approving a motion without debate in their muktamar or annual congress.

Since then, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has pushed for the resignation of Penang PAS leaders, accusing them of undermining the DAP administration by holding onto their positions.

The DAP had cut ties with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang last March, but not the Islamist opposition party itself, after Hadi tabled a private member’s Bill in Parliament to remove legal obstacles that prevent the implementation of hudud in Kelantan.

The secular party, however, has yet to decide if it will end its relationship with PAS after the controversial motion at the muktamar, with DAP national Liew Chin Tong saying Wednesday that it is up to the central executive committee to decide on his party’s ties with PAS.
