Respect decision of PAS muktamar, says Azmin
(Bernama) – Any decision reached at the PAS muktamar should be respected, said PKR deputy president Azmin Ali (pix).
The Selangor Mentri Besar said this was because the muktamar was the party’s highest decision-making body.
“In PKR, whatever decision made at its congress is the final decision, just like the DAP convention,” he told reporters after handing out a cheque for the sponsoring of phase three of the Hijrah Selangor programme at Universiti Selangor, here, Sunday.
He was asked to comment on the statement by DAP veteran leader Lim Kit Siang as saying in his blog: “I agree with several PAS MPs that PAS muktamar’s decision to cut ties with DAP is final as PAS muktamar is the highest decision-making body and there is no complaint that the resolution violates any Islamic law or hukum.”
Lim’s statement came after PAS at its 61st muktamar decided that the party cut ties with DAP.
On the formation of a new party proposed by Persatuan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia (PasMa), Azmin said it should accept a common policy framework agreed upon by all partners in Pakatan Rakyat.
“In a democratic system, anyone can form a political party or a non-governmental organisation.
“However, if PasMa wishes to be with Pakatan Rakyat, it should accept the pact’s common policy,” he added.
On Saturday, PasMa announced that a new political party would be set up after the muktamar accepted without debate, the motion for the Islamist party to sever ties with DAP.
