Najib, Rosmah file libel suit over DAP MP’s Facebook post
(Malay Mail Online) – Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor have initiated a libel suit against DAP lawmaker Nga Kor Ming for alleging that that the prime minister’s wife attended Cabinet meetings.
According to The Star on its website, Umno lawyer Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun, who is representing the duo, said the lawsuit will be served on Nga today.
In a social media post in March, Nga used a photograph that showed Najib and Rosmah together with several ministers, and asked why the prime minister’s wife needed to be present during Cabinet meetings.
It was later revealed that the image used was not from a Cabinet meeting, but from an official visit abroad by the prime minister.
In April, Najib and Rosmah sent a letter of demand to Nga demanding an apology and retraction.
Najib had then said that Nga’s remarks on the social media site, which inaccurately suggested that Rosmah had attended a Cabinet meeting, reeked of ill-will.
“I am prepared to receive suggestions and criticism against the leadership, its policies and the administration but MP Nga Kor Ming’s remarks on his Facebook page, and the picture (used) of me and my wife, were defamatory and malicious,” said Najib.
