Azmin to update Selangor Sultan
(The Star) – Mentri Besar Azmin Ali will seek an audience with the Selangor Sultan to brief him on the latest political situation in the state.
“I was told that Azmin will brief the Sultan in due course,” PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli said outside Parliament.
He said Azmin would update the palace on what has happened following the dissolution of Pakatan Rakyat.
“PAS and DAP have given their commitment to continue in the government in Selangor, even without a formal pact at the national level,” said Rafizi.
After chairing the state Economic Action Council meeting in Shah Alam yesterday, Azmin said the Selangor government would continue to function despite the ongoing DAP-PAS squabble.
“Pakatan Rakyat still exists,” he said.
Azmin said the three parties in the coalition were not pretending that everything was rosy and acknowledged that there are issues that need to be addressed.
“Because of what happened in the PAS muktamar and as we felt that the action taken by DAP was hasty, we see that Pakatan Rakyat no longer functions formally.
“That’s all. Don’t interpret beyond that,” said Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president.
State exco member Elizabeth Wong said it was possible that a new coalition would be formed, and urged everyone to give Azmin time to resolve the issue.
Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad said he would meet party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang on the Selangor issue.
Asked if the resignation of PAS members in Penang would happen in Selangor, he said the state administration was still functioning as usual.
