Khalid: Reform in 100 days or else you’ll see a new party
Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad agrees with the ultimatum given to the PAS leadership to reform in 100 days.
(Free Malaysia Today) – Reform in a hundred days or you’re going to see a new party formed, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad has told the new PAS leadership.
This was said in line with PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah’s demand that the new largely ulama-manned (scholars) leadership be given 100 days to prove itself, a call that Khalid fully agreed with.
The recent PAS party elections saw the defeat of the progressive and professional leaders and a resurgence of the ulama.
Khalid said that time would be given to the new leadership to return back to the leadership styles of late PAS president Fadzil Noor and Nik Aziz Nik Mat.
“I agree to allocate this same number of days for them to get back to the main objective of ‘PAS for all’,” said Khalid in a report carried by the Rakyat Post.
“If PAS becomes a closed party that cannot fulfill the hopes of the people, then the formation of a new party will become a necessity for us,” Khalid told reporters.
He warned that the rakyat would possibly not give PAS the 100 days deemed necessary by Mohd Amar, adding that the decision to form a new party could probably be quicker if there were no signs of the party improving by the end of Ramadhan.
