(MMO) – Datuk Seri Nazir Razak wants his new non-governmental group to work with PAS splinter movement Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB), The Straits Times reported today.

The Singapore daily said Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, the chief executive officer of the Global Movement of Moderates (GMM) who will be the face of Nazir’s unnamed group, held “exploratory talks” last month with the the leaders of GHB, which comprises the defeated progressive faction from PAS.

Confirming the meeting, Parit Buntar MP Mujahid Yusof Rawa said, however, that no decision resulted.

“I need to discuss the proposals with the rest of the group before deciding,” he told the daily on the possible link up.

It is unclear how closely Nazir wants his group to work with GHB and how that would work out.

Saifuddin, a long-time friend of Mujahid, told the daily that he “exchanged notes” with him on what they planned to do.

“We broadly agreed to continue cooperation in the future. If, for example, one of us starts an NGO and the other a new party, we will work closely and consult each other,” the former deputy education minister said.
