Rahman Dahlan: Pua’s ‘evidence’ falling apart
(The Star) – The evidence Tony Pua has been using to prove alleged wrongdoing regarding 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is falling apart, claims Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
The Barisan Nasional strategic communications director retweeted an older post from July 2, when he asked if Pua, one of 1MDB’s biggest critics, had ever met with Xavier Andre Justo.
“On 2nd July I asked @tonypua: Has he ever met Justo? He said he had no clue who Justo was. We shall see…” he tweeted on Thursday.
Later, he retweeted a tweet by @LimSianSee who suggested that Pua, a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member, was struggling under pressure following the recent confession by an individual allegedly involved in falsifying information contained in media reports on 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
“The web of deceit will crumble soon,” he said in the tweet.
The 1MDB controversy started with reports that the sovereign fund had amassed a debt of RM42bil and allegations that the money had been lost due to incompetence.
A video surfaced Friday of a confession by journalist Lester Melanyi, who claimed to be involved in the publication and distribution of the falsified information contained inSarawak Report articles on 1MDB.
He implicated several Opposition leaders who conspired with Rewcastle-Brown and theSarawak Report in an alleged plot to topple the Prime Minister.
Justo, a former PetroSaudi employee, was arrested in Thailand for allegedly trying to blackmail his employer.
Thai police also said that Justo claimed to have been paid by “important people” in a neighbouring country for the documents in his possession.
