Egg on Kit Siang’s face, not mine, Umno minister says in rejoinder
(Malay Mail Online) – Umno’s Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan today hit back at Lim Kit Siang for mocking his support for a former Sarawak journalist who accused whistleblower site Sarawak Report (SR) of forgery, and questioned if the latter’s party was involved.
The urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister also asked if the DAP parliamentary leader’s derision for dubious sources extended to his party colleagues, after a DAP MP was implicated in meeting former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo.
Justo, who is under arrest in Thailand, was reported to have told authorities there that he met with several Malaysian personalities to negotiate the sale of documents linked to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
“Is @limkitsiang worried his star MP cld be proven lying abt mtg Justo? Clearly the eggs are on your face Mr Lim, not mine. @malaymailonline,” the Kota Belud MP wrote on his account.
“When BN questioned the credibility of DAP’s sources, @limkitsiang always quick to say “Don’t shoot the messenger, focus on the message!” So?”
Yesterday, Kit Siang mocked the Umno MP as having egg on his face for backing claims made by former journalist Lester Melanyi against Sarawak Report, which he claimed forged documents on 1MDB.
But Lester on Thursday admitted to Malay Mail Online that he was paid to expose a convoluted conspiracy involving Malaysia’s opposition, Sarawak Report and its UK-based founder Rewcastle-Brown in their alleged plot to unseat Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak through so-called doctored leaks of documents on 1MDB.
Abdul Rahman, who is also Barisan Nasional strategic communications director, later insisted that Lester’s allegations that SR had forged documents was still pertinent due to public interest in Putrajaya’s.
