Return of the Jedi: the return match for Najib
I take it if the deal goes through and if the terms of the sale can be agreed then in the next few days we should be seeing an even more damaging expose on Rosmah. Let’s see what that expose is all about and how Najib’s team handles the damage control if this expose does happen in the end.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Lim Kit Siang said that Abdul Rahman Dahlan may not realise it yet but he has egg on his face. To those Malay-, Chinese- and Tamil-educated Malaysians, ‘egg on your face’ means something embarrassing.
I actually do not know why, to the English, egg on your face is the height of embarrassment. I would imagine that your swimming trunks slipping down to your ankles revealing your bare butt like what happened to me in a crowded Phuket shopping mall in Thailand would be more embarrassing than having egg on my face.
Anyway, Rahman replied that it is Kit Siang instead who has egg on his face. Rahman was referring to the DAP leader who the Thai police implicated in a criminal conspiracy and was alleged to have met Xavier Andre Justo and may further be involved in doctoring some documents and passing them off as genuine.
The question here would be did Kit Siang know what was going on? Was he aware of what this DAP leader was doing? Even if he did not know at the time but only found out later, but covered it up, that is good enough to implicate him in the conspiracy, as President Nixon found out the hard way.
Now you know why this affair is called Justogate.
Tony Pua, knowing that they all meant him, in a normal Malaysian politician ‘my dick is bigger than yours’ challenge, has dared the government to name him rather that refer to him as ‘a senior opposition leader’. Maybe Tony thinks if they name him and cannot prove it then he would have grounds to sue.
The rule here is very simple. If a government leader accuses an opposition leader of something, then you must prove that allegation. When an opposition leader accuses a government leader of something, however, then the government leader must prove that that allegation against him or her is not true — the other way around.
As Tun Dr Mahathir said yesterday, they must prove the allegations against him and his sons. A day earlier, Dr Mahathir said that all allegations against the Prime Minister must be considered true unless they can prove otherwise.
And that is one reason why Dr Mahathir is very angry with Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak for repealing the Internal Security Act (ISA). As Dr Mahathir has explained so many times over the last 30 years, the ISA is a preventive law and is crucial to the security of the country. Under the ISA you are detained without trial if you are merely suspected of planning to commit a crime even if there is no evidence and you may not actually commit any crime in the end.
Under the ISA you are presumed guilty of thinking about doing something bad and if you want to get released from detention then you need to convince the government that you are innocent of thinking.
But no one can really prove that he or she was not thinking of doing something bad. So normally you will never get released and would have to spend at least two years behind bars and sometimes even eight years or 26 years (the longest ISA detainee so far).
So, Tony Pua has challenged his accusers to mention him by name. Let’s see whether Rahman Dahlan’s dick is bigger than Tony Pua’s dick and he actually mentions Tony Pua by name — although we all know they meant Tony Pua even though they did not name him.
The issue now would be is Tony Pua qualified to sit in the PAC if he has been implicated in a crime of criminal conspiracy? Would that not be like putting the fox in charge of the chicken coop? The Malays call this ‘suruh kambing jaga sireh’.
Anyway, while they throw dares and challenges at each other and have a ‘whose dick is bigger’ contest and accuse each other of having egg on their faces, a new development has emerged on the eve of Hari Raya.
It seems Rashpal Singh a/l Jeswant Singh, a person who was one of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) advisers at the time when Teoh Beng Hock and Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed were mysteriously killed while under interrogation, met up with Clare Rewcastle Brown in London on the eve of Hari Raya.
The alleged meeting was to discuss how Rashpal, who has access to confidential MACC information regarding the Prime Minister’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, could hand this information to Sarawak Report.
I take it if the deal goes through and if the terms of the sale can be agreed then in the next few days we should be seeing an even more damaging expose on Rosmah. I wonder what that expose is all about and how Najib’s team is going to handle the damage control if this expose does happen in the end.
Malaysia is so interesting, is it not? There is never a dull moment. Well, after ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ (READ HERE) there should be a sequel to it called ‘Return of the Jedi’. So let’s see what the Jedi has up his sleeve.
