Up to God to judge me, says Lester
(The Star) – Defending his expose of an alleged plot to falsify information on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), former Sarawak Tribune editor Lester Melanyi (pic) says it is up to God to judge his credibility.
He said he stood by his story, although questions had been raised about his credibility, including accusations that he was a liar and in debt.
“Only God knows whether I am credible or not. He can judge me for it,” Lester told The Star on Saturday.
To Sarawak Report founder and editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown calling him a “debtor”, he retorted: “I’m not surprised she said that. She can easily check people’s accounts.”
He also brushed off claims that he was telling lies, saying: “Let’s see who is the worst at the end of the day.”
Asked whether police had contacted him, Lester said he finished giving his statement to the police on Saturday.
“I had two days of interviews with the police and I showed them the emails between me and Clare,” he said.
A video confession by Lester was uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, in which he alleged that several opposition leaders together with Sarawak Report had hatched a plot to forge 1MDB documents and topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The allegations have been denied by opposition leaders and Rewcastle-Brown.
