“The GHP pro-tem chairman Mohamad Sabu has been evading questions and refusing to give clear-cut answers on hudud implementation so this shows that GHB will still try to implement hudud which means it is no different from PAS.”

(Malay Mail Online) – Penang Gerakan has claimed that new PAS splinter group Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) will push for hudud in future, just like the Islamist party that supplied most of its members.

Penang Gerakan secretary Oh Tong Keong warned that GHB will be no different from PAS as it was not against hudud and the founding members were all formerly from PAS.

“The GHP pro-tem chairman Mohamad Sabu has been evading questions and refusing to give clear-cut answers on hudud implementation so this shows that GHB will still try to implement hudud which means it is no different from PAS,” he said in a statement today.

He warned non-Muslims to be wary of GHB and not to fall for their promises especially when the movement was formed by former PAS leaders like Mohamad Sabu, the former PAS deputy president.

He also demanded that DAP explain to non-Muslims how they will “handle GHB” if the new party wants to implement hudud in future.

Mohamad announced the formation of the new movement last week and over the weekend, GHB started its nationwide roadshow at Perlis.

Oh said Gerakan has no right to stop the formation of a religious-based political party but the Barisan Nasional component has the right to remind the people against supporting a new political parties that may lead to hudud implementation and theocracy in Malaysia.
