1MDB: Company director remanded to assist probe
(Bernama) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission today obtained an order from the Magistrate’s Court to remand a company director to assist in the investigation into the accounts of 1Malaysia Development Berhad.
Magistrate Lau Eric issued the order to remand the 39-year-old man until Friday for investigation under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act.
The man was arrested at the KL International Airport last night by the special task force probing the accounts of 1MDB, a government investment company.
The suspect, in orange-coloured MACC lockup attire, arrived at the court at about 8.30am.
He was represented by lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah (pic). Shafee told reporters the MACC had asked for a seven-day remand order but the magistrate gave four days.
He said he did not know the grounds for his client’s arrest but was told it was on “investigation on national grounds”.
