(The Star) – Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic) is in Bangkok in connection with a probe involving former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo.

A Thai source confirmed that the top cop had wrapped up a meeting with Royal Thai Police Commissioner General Somyot Pumpunmuang, amid speculation that Khalid is trying to secure the assistance of Thailand to interview Justo.

“He’s just left the police station but he has yet to meet Justo,” the source said at 4.30pm Thursday.

Bukit Aman, however, has yet to issue a statement over Khalid’s presence in Thailand.

Khalid had said he would lead a team to Thailand to question the Swiss national, after getting the green light from his Thai counterpart.

Justo was arrested in Koh Samui in June for stealing information from his former company and demanded PetroSaudi pay him 2.5 million Swiss francs (RM9.9mil) to not release the documents.

Justo is expected to be charged with blackmailing his former employer and can only be extradited after he has served his sentence in Thailand.

It was claimed that he had met with certain individuals in Singapore to discuss the handing over of the documents.

A video confession by former Sarawak Tribune editor Lester Melanyi, claims thatSarawak Report had bought some documents from Justo but fabricated the rest.
