Najib makes Mahathir look like a Spartan warrior

First it was Tony Pua, then Rafizi Ramli, but now other members from opposition parties are starting to realise that they too may be barred from leaving the country. The Edge Media Group owner Datuk Tong Kooi Ong also shares the same fate. While it has been confirmed that Pua and Tong are barred from leaving the country, travelling status on the Malaysian immigration website of Rafizi, Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan, Tian Chua, Maria Chin Abdullah, Hishamuddin Rais and Adam Adli show that they have to refer to the nearest immigration office if they wanted to go abroad.

It is pretty obvious the reason for that is because of revelations with regards to alleged financial fraudulence of 1MDB and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Different acts have been quoted to justify the decision of limiting the travel of names mentioned above.

Even if the benefit of doubt is given to the government for such a drastic action, the biggest question on everyone’s mind is “Why isn’t Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad” black-listed from leaving the country as well?

Is Najib actually afraid of Mahathir that Mahathir remains untouched?

Mahathir by far has been worse than any of the opposition leaders. He has openly spoken against Najib and publicly withdrew his support for the prime minister. He has outspokenly called for Najib’s resignation. He has given interviews in foreign media lamenting the current government corrupt. He has even spoken ill of the Prime Minister’s wife and mocked her alleged lavish lifestyle. Mahathir has repetitively questioned the intelligence of the current crop of BarisanNasional leaders. He continues to stir racial sentiments with his pro-Malay agenda.

Mahathir did a Julius Caesar style ‘Veni, Vedi, Vici’ in Najib’s own #NothingToHide disaster. Analogically, he tore, spat and stepped on Najib’s reputation in the government’s own forum and left like a hero. From 1MDB to Altantuyaa, from BRIM to purchased government jet, Mahathir has questioned, ridiculed and mocked them all.

If anyone did even 10% of the things to Mahathir during his tenure like what he is doing to Najib currently, that person would have probably been charged with life imprisonment for this and possibly next birth.

Why hasn’t the Seditious Act been used against Mahathir? Mahathir has openly challenged the authorities to come and get him but everyone seems to be hiding under their shell. The police and immigration goes into an ostrichism mode, burying their heads in the ground and hoping Mahathir does not see them as well, ignoring the reality of the situation.

For the record, Mahathir is an ex-Prime Minister and he is no different from any citizen in this country except the fact that he is insanely wealthy after looting the country for 22 years. If Mahathir is allowed to lament accusations, then each and everyone of us should be allowed to do the same too for our intention is also to “save the country from any wrongdoings”.

In simple words, “Siapa Mahathir” that he gets preferential treatment? If what the opposition leaders are doing and saying are wrong, so is Mahathir. Everyone should be treated equally and this is exactly what the entire nation is fighting for. Stop portraying a Keralan as a Spartan.
