Bukit Aman to summon The Edge bosses again
(The Star) – The Edge Media Group chairman Tong Kooi Ong and its publisher Ho Kay Tat will be called up again by Bukit Aman to have their statements taken.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic) said the two men were supposed to give their statements Tuesday but postponed due to a funeral.
“We were informed that Tong’s mother had passed away and we will reschedule it,” he told reporters at Bukit Aman.
Khalid said Ho and Tong were among several individuals who would need to give their statements again following his meeting with his Thai counterpart last week.
“During the meeting, I was briefed in detail by Royal Thailand Police Commissioner Gen Somyot Pumpunmuang on investigations into Swiss national Andre Xavier Justo.
“He gave me details including Justo’s confession to Thai police which we will use to incorporate into our investigations here,” he said, adding that the Thai police had been very cooperative.
The publishing permits of The Edge Weekly and The Edge Financial Daily were suspended by the Home Minister for three months from July 27.
The Edge said in a statement that the publication had received a letter from the Home Ministry because of their reporting on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Justo was arrested last month at his plush home on the resort island of Koh Samui last month for attempting to extort money from his former employer PetroSaudi International.
The company was involved in a short-lived 2009 joint venture with 1MDB.
The tattooed 49-year-old had worked for PetroSaudi from 2010 to 2011.
