Today, at 11.00am, Muhyiddin Yassin will be holding a press conference. At this press conference he will be explaining why he was sacked. And the story he will tell is that he was sacked for raising the issue of 1MDB.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Ambiga Sreenevasan, Gobind Singh Deo, plus a couple of others have expressed their outrage at what they say is the illegal, unlawful or unconstitutional removal of the Attorney General, Gani Patail — one of the six Tan Sri I mentioned in an earlier article who is part of the conspiracy to oust the Prime Minister.

I was hoping that Anwar Ibrahim or Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail would join this chorus of condemnation but so far they have been very silent. Maybe they are still in shock and the shock has not worn of yet or maybe they are quite pleased with what happened to Gani.

Anyway, let’s see whether Anwar or Dr Wan Azizah, or even Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, say anything. I am very interested to hear their screams and condemnation about the illegal, unlawful or unconstitutional removal of the Attorney General because it was these same people who screamed and condemned the government for appointing Gani as the AG in the first place.

I remember back in 1998 when they accused Gani of being bought and of being Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s running dog and of fixing Anwar on fabricated sodomy charges and all that.

At that time Dr Mahathir was the number one most hated man in Malaysia, the then IGP, Rahim Noor, the second most hated man, and Gani close behind on the Top Ten Most Hated Malaysians list.

When Gani was eventually promoted to Attorney General the whole country was shocked. Of all people, Gani was the least suited person to become AG. There were further protests and condemnation and many demanded that the government remove him as AG.

Now it is the other way around. Now there are shocks and protests and demands that the government not remove him as AG. They want Gani to remain as AG for another 20 or 30 years.

Okay, let me get this straight: Anwar was not fixed up by Gani on fabricated sodomy charges. Let me get this straight: Anwar is really guilty of sodomy as alleged. Let me get this straight: the allegation that Gani is a bad person and the claim that Anwar is good person who was fixed up by the bad Gani is not true.

And that is why we want Gani to be retained as the Attorney General: because it is great for Malaysia and because Gani has done many good things for the country in upholding justice and the independence of the judiciary.

What the fook is wrong with these opposition people? Can’t they make up their mind whether Gani is an angel or whether he is a slime-ball and scumbag like they said he is back in the days when he sodomised Anwar good and proper?

Gani was supposed to retire in October. Normally before a top civil servant retires they give him or her three months leave. This has always been the practice and many who retired left three months before the date to enjoy a good holiday.

Gani may not be able to enjoy his holiday, though, because he needs to go to hospital three times a week to get his kidneys cleaned out. If not he would probably die in office.

Whatever it may be, the Attorney General serves at the pleasure of His Majesty the Agong. This is mentioned in Article 145(5) of the Federal Constitution of Malaysia. So the Agong can remove the Attorney General or not extend his service upon retirement. It is entirely up to the Agong. And the Agong has already decided that Gani should go into retirement.

Today, at 11.00am, Muhyiddin Yassin will be holding a press conference. At this press conference he will be explaining why he was sacked. And the story he will tell is that he was sacked for raising the issue of 1MDB.

I already said yesterday that this is what he will say just hours after he was sacked. As I said, he raised the issue of 1MDB because he knew he was going to be sacked and he wanted to use that to portray himself as a hero who paid the price for his principles. He is not going to admit that it was the other way around.

Muyhiddin should just come clean. He should admit that he and three Tun and couple of other Tan Sri tried to pull off a coup d’etat and failed. And when you launch a coup d’etat and fail this is what happens — you get sent to the guillotine.

Anwar tried the same thing on Dr Mahathir and failed. And he went to jail for a long time on what they allege are fabricated sodomy charges by Gani. At least Muhyiddin should be grateful that all he is losing is his covered car park in Putrajaya and that Gani can no longer fix him up on fabricated charges like he did Anwar.
